Op basis van de huidige website heb ik eerst een schets gemaakt. Deze werd goedgekeurd en aan de hand van dit voorbeeld heb ik met CSS (styling code) de huidige website gefinetuned. Zie hieronder de voor- en na screenshots om te zien wat we gewijzigd hebben. Zo zie je maar dat je niet altijd een hele nieuwe website hoeft. Dit is vaak omslachtig en daarbij kan je ook al je Google vindbaarheid (SEO) kwijtraken. Vernieuwen om het vernieuwen is zinloos. Voor deze website was het doel een meer high—end look te creëren. Op basis van de huidige website maakten we een nieuw ontwerp (in dit geval in Photoshop op basis van een screenshot). In eerste instantie gingen we uit van het vette font (lettertype) uit het logo waarin ‘schaffelaar’ staat. Uiteindelijk zijn we toch voor de niet-vette / standaard versie gegaan waarin ‘HOVENIERS’ staat, maar dan wel met All-CAPS, dus alle titels in hoofdletters. Het gebruik van hoofdletters kan schreeuwerig zijn als je het niet goed toepast. Maar op de juiste manier geeft het een luxe uitstraling. En zoals je ziet hadden we in eerste instantie veel groen verwerkt. Bij nader inzien was dit niet high—end genoeg, vandaar meer de kleur antraciet en hebben we groen vooral voor de links en buttons gebruikt.

typografie
Onze aanpak is eigenlijk vrij simpel. Mooie lettertypes toepassen en je hebt de helft al gewonnen. Vooral omdat de meeste mensen hier 0,0 verstand van hebben. We hebben op basis van het logo de huisstijl met de juiste lettertypes en kleuren meer doorgevoerd. De typografie is robuust en karakteristiek. Door de juiste balans tussen rust, minimalisme, leesbaarheid en power & body voor de koppen is er een boeiend geheel ontstaan.

Vanwege praktisch gebruik zijn we zo vrij geweest het logo om te zetten naar een liggende variant zodat dit beter in het menu past. Ook een lichte en donkere variant die verandert als je naar beneden scrolt. Het originele vierkante logo neemt teveel ruimte in, maar kan wel weer goed gebruikt worden op social media. Voor de herkenbaarheid hebben we het wel in de footer geplaatst.

Het webdesign is een aanpassing op wat er al was door middel van CSS. Het ontwerp is dus een finetuning zonder dat er compleet nieuwe pagina’s ontworpen hoefden te worden. Voordeel hiervan is dat het minder kost, minder werk is, je Google SEO scores verdwijnen niet (dus je hoeft geen nieuwe resultaten op te bouwen in je vindbaarheid), en je kan gewoon verder bouwen met wat je al had. Zie het als een tuinrenovatie. Alleen dan voor een website.
